The wonderful allure of Corton Charlemagne Burgundy Grand Cru

The elegance of Jean-Charles Le Bault de la Moriniere, owner of the Domaine Bonneau Du Martray Corton Charlemagne was ever so present during our evening tasting through a collection of his vintages during dinner.

Jean Charles inherited the estate from his father in 1994 and has been working on the total biodynamic regiment for the vines and soil and moving away from any herbicides or pesticides. He is also working diligently to reduce the quantity of the grape yields and in return produce a higher quality of wine.

Bonneau du Martray is the largest single owner of vines with the Corton Charlemagne vineyard and owns the largest area of a single Grand cru vineyard of any producer in Burgundy.

The Estate produces two wines from their vineyard holdings at the Domaine....

Spring Time is Rose Season

As the flowers start to bloom, we all get spring fever and open up our patios, terraces, and pools. It's time to listen to the birds chirping in the morning and to discover not only the new tree buds but to also what is new and refreshing to imbibe. This is the time of year when all of the new Rose wines are being released from wine regions from around the world. We used to see a small smattering from the Cotes de Provence region in France. We now are seeing Rose wines from, just to name a few areas, Spain, Argentina, Greece, Bordeaux, California, and we can’t leave out Long Island.

These wines are best consumed as fresh as possible. That's one reason that you may have the experience of buying a certain Rose and really enjoying it, and then going back to your local...

Her years of experience have taken her around the world, finding wine gems and tasting thousands of bottles while getting to know the wine producers and wine makers personally. Theresa was the cellar master for the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs in Manhattan for a number of years.
