Mickey Lione Jr. Fund

Bobby Valentine welcomed more than 900 benefactors to the eighth annual Celebrity Wine & Food Experience at the Hyatt Regency where they sampled wine and hors-d’oeuvres from area eateries to support the Mickey Lione Jr. Fund. The charity provides college scholarships to students from Stamford’s high schools and provides financial assistance to Stamford youth wishing to participate in group sport activities.

Among the evening’s highlights was the presentation of The Wellington Mara Award to Junie DeLeo, in recognition of his volunteer coaching work with the Springdale Little League.

Since its inception, the fund has awarded thirty-three college scholarships totaling $227,000 and committed more than $168,000 to youth sports and educational organizations in the community.
