Excellent Neighbors
Domus, the Stamford agency behind Trailblazers and Stamford academies, and the Cardinal Shehan Center of Bridgeport were honored at the Palace Theater in Stamford with Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative awards.
Bank of America Neighborhood Builders are selected based on ability to serve communities and individuals with the greatest needs, demonstrate a track record of optimum results, convey overall significance of their work and demonstrate fiscal responsibility that ensures long-term sustainability.
Each recognition includes a $200,000 grant in unrestricted funding to help support the agencies’ efforts to serve area youth and their families. Executives at each nonprofit will also receive training from Bank of America to address the need for sustained leadership in the nonprofit world.
Five Local Heroes were also honored during the awards function. Among them was Emilio Funicella, who will donate his $5,000 award to Keep Stamford Beautiful.
