At Home "Me Time"

Who would have thought it would still be raining! Hopefully the sun will be making a grand appearance sooner rather than later and we can start working on our tans and enjoying those wild summer nights. But until then, don’t let this gloomy, rainy weather get to you!

Don’t want to leave the house in this weather?  Neither do we.  Find yourself slouching around being grumpy?  We certainly are feeling that way.  Keep the sunshine glowing within and schedule some at home me time with yourself to help chase the clouds away until the sun comes back.  How to do that?  Here are a few of our favorite suggestions:

Dance around the house to your favorite upbeat song like no one is watching. Turn the ringer off on the phone, grab a candle and a cup or tea or a glass of wine, hang the "do not disturb" sign on the door and luxuriate in a warm bath.   Curl up in your favorite chair and read a couple of chapters of that book on your night stand.  Work on your summer Vision Board of all the great things you want to do this summer.  And the best part about all of these things is that you don’t need to spend lots of money, leave the house or need an entire day.  A half hour is all you need to give yourself some refreshing me time and revive the sunshine within you!  Enjoy your me time!

I grew up in Long Island, and no, I don't have the accent. I spent most of my summers in Shelter Island, which is a tiny island between the North and South forks of Eastern Long Island. It is here where I really like to say I grew up. I have the best memories of my childhood in Shelter Island, everything from bonfires and water-skiing to working at The Rams Head Inn and wearing culottes made out of upholstery material that matched the wallpaper (and, yes, those suckers were hot in the August heat!). If you ever want to find a true escape, visit Shelter Island (www.shelter-island.org) and expect nothing except relaxation and my favorite, no traffic lights!!

I was born and raised in Norwalk, CT and went to Merrimack College in MA. I have tried to move out of CT a few times but with no luck so the powers that be are telling me this is my place. I love to read, I love to go out to dinner, I love to watch movies although I never seem to get to the movies nearly as much as I would like. I also like to experiment with different and all kinds of crafts. I am a master of none but a novice at lots! Currently my craft passion is knitting, although if you want me to make you something, it may take a while for me to finish it. I love new adventures and love to try new things which is why My Time For Me came about. I figured everyone wanted to try most things at least once right?
