Bags, Bags and More Bags!!

Well, the sales tax break might be over, but then again — so is summer vacation! As the kiddos go off to school, it's time for us to go shopping. (Labor Day sales, anyone?)

Friday, August 29th:

Marc Jacobs has done it again! But this year, I am drawn to his Marc by Marc Jacobs line. You can find it at Saks, Shoes ‘N More and Plaza Too and trust me, you can’t miss my pick. Just look for the bold and beautiful fuchsia bags made of soft and supple leather. Of course, if pink is not your color, you can opt for fools gold. It's the perfect neutral – not too shimmery, not too metallic – just right.  A bag will average about $450 versus something from the Marc Jacobs Collection for well over $1000.

Thursday, August 28th:

Love Prada? Then the new line from MZ Wallace will really wow you!! (Hurry! There's only a few days left of their BIG summer sale!)
 
Just like Prada, there are two lines of bags available: One in a very high-end nylon (easy to clean and can withstand a great deal of wear & tear) and another in patent leather. They come in a variety of neutral colors including black, steel, brown and gold and a wide assortment of styles to choose from — including large totes with inside compartments and a zipper top (I love the zipper for safety reasons). Different from Prada however is the price point. Nylon bags can start as low as $270 and go up to $395, while the patent leather syles go as high as $495.

Wednesday, August 27th:

Go ahead and splurge on a new Kooba bag. Although you will find a good assortment of styles and colors at Mitchell’s of Westport and Richard’s of Greenwich, as well as Saks Fifth Avenue in Stamford and Greenwich, Shoes ‘N More, Plaza Too and Darien Sport Shop, my personal favorite is the large Blake shoulder tote available in either leather or patent leather for $645. I prefer the patent. It adds a bit of sparkle and although the black is practical, I would choose the caramel or amethyst.

Tuesday, August 26th:

I am sure that some of you have already discovered (and maybe already own) one of my very favorite picks of the season. After all, Carrie Bradshaw did sport the Beirn Bag in the SATC movie. However, as the company only just celebrated its one year anniversary, this pick may be new to many out there in Moffly World.

My favorite-favorite-favorite is the Jenna Hobo style which is currently in stock at Plaza Too (locations in Westport, New Canaan and Greenwich) in burnt orange, turquoise, black, green and many more colors of the rainbow for $315. (Okay, so there's no black in the rainbow — you know what I mean!)

What's different about these bags is that they are made of authentic watersnake and come with a finishing gloss that enhances and protects the color as well as making it waterproof. So, whether you are a single girl in need of a great bag for work, a busy mom with messy kids or just, you know, you — someone looking to add color and style to last year’s wardrobe, pick yourself up a Beirn Bag and get "Carrie'd" away!   
 

Monday, August 25th:

I am not one to change my bag often, so when I find one that is roomy enough to hold my life and still manageable enough to sift through and carry, I grab it. Of course, it needs to be color compatible with most outfits and fashionable. So, how happy was I today when I picked up a new bag from Big Buddha!

Big Buddha makes a fabulous line of large handbags in fashion friendly colors at reasonable prices. So, you ask, what's reasonable? Most of the bags are under $100, but look much more expensive! At first glance, you might assume it's patent, but look closer — it's actually made of PVC. So, you ask, what is PVC? It’s a cheap, durable, easy to work with plastic that's a new trend in manufacturing. 

You can find Big Buddha at Shoes N’ More, located in Westport, Ridgefield, Greenwich and New Canaan. Also at a Chou Chou (203-761-9999 for info) in Wilton at Wilton Center and at Harper’s on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.
