Bathroom Design Trends 2012

February is when many fixture and tile manufacturers come out with their new product lines for the year. After reviewing these, designers can predict what the trends will be for that year. I've come up with the top five design trends for bathrooms in 2012. The first is soaking tubs instead of whirlpools- classic and sophisticated. Next, simple vanities with plenty of storage space. Surfaces that are easy to clean, like quartz are quickly gaining popularity, while organic forms and shapes such as natural stones and branches will also be in high demand. Lastly, soft colors that are neutral will keep your bathroom serene and timeless.

iPad Operated Rooms

This Superbowl Sunday, sit back, relax, and let your iPad do all of the work! Impress your guests with an iPad controlled room! With Control4 My Home available through iTunes, you can control your lights, sound system, television, HVAC unit, and even automated window treatments! This system works in conjunction with Control4 Home control and automation system, so you don't have to stop at your living room. Be the first of your friends to have a "smart home" that will do just about everything except get you a cold beverage... maybe next year, iPad :-) ! Going out this Superbowl Sunday? Well you can rest at ease because with this system, you can check in on your security cameras...

Effective Storage Solutions

The first month of 2012 is a perfect time to re-organize and get rid of items that are just taking up space. Storage is a neccessity in any home, and there are many who are living with a lack of it. Even if you have a large home, somehow, you find a way to fill it! My main advice for practicing effective storage is to edit your belongings. If you haven't used something for 5 years, chances are that you probably don't need it. I know it's hard to purge, but if you can't find use for something, maybe someone else can. Donate items to ensure they go to a deserving home and so that they don't wind up in a landfill. I've found some images to get you inspired!

I Want That!: Losanges Area Rug

 Happy New Year!

I want to start this year with a resolution of showing you more ideas from European designers. Designed by the wonder duo of brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, this stunning area rug make me smile. It will work in almost any space and will create a perfect background for both classic and contemporary furnishings. It is hand woven from...
